As members of the local business community, Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, Professional Association plays many roles in addition to providing accounting and advisory services to businesses and individuals. With a commitment to actively giving back to the community, we serve as a resource for various local not-for-profit and charitable organizations. We encourage our employees to provide volunteer hours, financial support and other means of assistance to organizations whose purpose is community-driven. With this in mind, we would like to introduce the local nonprofit organization, The Way Home.
About The Way Home
As a nonprofit organization established in 1988, The Way Home’s mission statement is to “assist lower income families and individuals to obtain and keep safe, affordable housing, offer supportive services to nurture their independence, and advocate for greater opportunity.” Since opening its doors, The Way Home has assisted more than 15,000 families and individuals with their housing needs. Some of the services it offers include homelessness prevention, foreclosure prevention, budget counseling, steps to success, affordable housing and healthy homes.
Christine DeAngelis, MSA, CPA, senior accountant, joined The Way Home in May 2011 as a board member. She then took on the role as the board’s treasurer in May 2012. “I fully believe in the organization’s mission. I try to support whenever and however I can, whether that be with my time or monetary donations,” said Christine. “The Way Home’s staff inspire me to do so all the time. I’ve never met such a dedicated group of individuals.”
Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, P.A. recently sponsored a karaoke event to benefit The Way Home on November 7th. The event was a great success! We would like to thank all of the firm’s team members for their support of the event.
The organization also hosted their first motorcycle ride this past summer in conjunction with Motorcycles of Manchester to help raise money for the completion of its new property on Laurel Street in Manchester.
On November 16th, The Way Home will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its newest property in Manchester. This property will specifically benefit homeless veterans.
The Way Home will have their annual appeal in December. If anyone would like to donate, you can visit the website or call 603-627-3491.
The organization currently has another property under construction, which they hope to open by the end of the year.
The Way Home will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year and are in the midst of planning a fantastic event in hopes of bringing awareness to the organization and its mission. Check their website often for more details soon!
