LMR Accountant Marshal Cassell Graduates from Leadership MWV Program
Staff Accountant Marshal Cassell recently graduated from the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Leadership program. Marshal, along with fifteen other young professionals, participated in the six-month program aimed at developing leadership skills and mentoring young professionals for community involvement.
Participants in the Leadership MWV program gain the skills needed to enrich the quality of life in the community through service, collaboration and discovering ways in which we can work together. Once they have graduated, students are encouraged to volunteer and consider serving on local boards in the community.
Marshal applauded the experience sharing that the mock board demonstrations were one of the highlights of the program as various local professionals were invited in to share and discuss information on a variety of topics including education, health care, local government, economic development and more. As part of their learning experience, the class also developed a project designed to make a difference in the local community.
“We created a project aimed at raising money for high school graduates who were interested in exploring different paths other than the traditional college route. We identified several ways to support them, including offering them a little financial boost,” said Marshal. “The awardees included aspiring musicians, landscapers and graphic designers.”
A graduation ceremony was held at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME on June 5, 2018 where business leaders, community members, family and friends were on hand to help celebrate the occasion.
“Words cannot describe how proud I am of this program and the students who have gone through it,” said Janice Crawford, Executive Director of the Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce and co-creator of the leadership program. “To see how much they learn and develop as young professionals making a life in our valley is so amazing and I can’t wait to see the imprint they leave on our community. The work they have done toward raising upwards of $3,000.00 for the ‘Student Loan Debt Repayment’ scholarship is admirable and will go far beyond just the time spent in the classroom.”
Working primarily out of our North Conway office, Marshal hails from Bartlett, New Hampshire. He is a 2015 graduate of Plymouth State University.
